Certain payments to the State only accepted as E-payments
What has changed?
From 1 October 2020 onwards, all payments made to government offices exceeding MVR 100,000 and USD 5,000 must be paid via e-portal or similar cashless payment service. This applies to all taxes, duty, fees and other amounts paid to the government.

- This change is made by the Ministry of Finance as part of the government’s phased approach to reduce the usage of cash and cheques for government payments.
