Large Payments to be paid only via MIRAconnect, Vaarupay or MRTGS

From 1 October 2020 onwards, payments made to the MIRA exceeding MVR 100,000 and USD 5,000 must be paid via MIRAconnect, or using the Vaarupay card and MRTGS.

 
New Rules on Large Payments

  1. Referring to the circular issued by the Ministry of Finance on 30 June 2020, the MIRA announced on 23 September 2020 that taxes and other fees paid to the MIRA exceeding MVR 100,000 and USD 5,000 will only be collected via MIRAconnect, or using the Vaarupay Card, and MRTGS.
  2. The MIRA will continue to collect online payments after 1 October 2020 for taxpayers that are required to make such payments online.
