On 13 October 2021, a 4 year old child was sexually abused at Galolhu School. On the very same day, the parents of the child filed a criminal complaint at the Maldives Police Service.
On 3 April 2022, the parents were informed that a decision has been reached not to file any criminal charges against the alleged perpetrator; an employee of the School, owing to the lack of available evidence to prove a criminal charge.
On 12 May 2022, the School via a press release publicly claimed, amongst other things, that the decision not to pursue a criminal charge in the case proves that the school is cleared of all accusations.
This is a press release from the parents of the child that fell victim to sexual abuse in the case, in response to the statements the School made on 12 May 2022.
