Husam Shareef

Husam’s background is in taxation and public policy. Prior to starting his own tax practice, Husam worked at the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority where he was responsible for drafting tax legislation, tax rulings and advising the management on technical issues. At CTL Strategies Husam is involved in tax advisory, planning and controversy involving transfer pricing and cross-border issues.
Husam worked for the President’s Office as an Under Secretary at the Policy Office, and he chaired the government’s Tax Reform Committee, playing a key role in the tax reform agenda. Husam was also instrumental in the formulation of policies on the proposed income tax regime.
He holds a masters degree in Governance and Public Policy from the University of Queensland, Australia and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the International Islamic University, Malaysia.
